1. D-I-Y Gel No-Chip Manicure

February 13, 2012 by Katelyn Fry

Do-it-yourself gel nails? No way!! That’s what I said when a client of mine just told me she just did her own at-home Shellac manicure. A gel manicure, otherwise known as a no-chip manicure, can be as much as a $50 at Indy nail salons. No-chip manicures are waterproof, scratch resistant, and most importantly chip-proof – lasting 14 days. Best part? You don’t have to dry – instead, nails are placed under a UV lamp for just a few moments, where the polish instantly cures.

How can I do this at home? I don’t have a UV lamp! My aforementioned client, got her very own at-home gel nail drying station. It was a Christmas gift from a friend. Talk about the gift that keeps giving! You can find UV lamps, like this one, on Amazon for $25-65. The polishes are a bit more expensive than normal nail polish – around $10-22 a bottle, but if you are looking for a more economical way to do your nails, this is the way to go! The initial investment may be more than you wish to spend, but if you are like me and are pretty decent at painting your nails by yourself, this little investment will definitely pay for itself over and over again!

  2. Tans that make you go, “Hmmm”

February 10, 2012 by Emily Ross

    Wow. o_O

You don’t have to be a spray tan expert to know that this tan is a train wreck.  This is the second time I’ve featured Courtney Stodden for sporting a horrible spray tan.  Courtney posted this on her twitter account.  Please look at how outrageously brown and offensive her hands and feet are, especially her palms.  That is definitely not a natural look.   The splotchy chest isn’t doing much for her either.  Also, notice the lack of tan on her face in comparison to her extremely dark body–Yikes.

    Eeek!

I’m not really sure what’s going on here.  I can’t tell if this guy is serious or not due to the severe orange-ness of his face versus the paleness of his arms and hands.  At any rate, he looks scary!

    Brownnnnn

Dang, these girls look like they went the darkest level possible and then did not bother to shower off all of their bronzer before going out.  Shiny and supa dark is NOT a good look, ladies!!

  3. Bronzed Bridal Beauties

February 9, 2012 by Emily Ross

Don't we all look lovely? ;)

This fall, I was in one of my best friends’ wedding.  Of course, all of us needed an Air-Tan for the big day.  The wedding was in Terre Haute, IN, so I brought our Air-Tan mobile unit and sprayed everyone in our hotel suite the night before.  (Did you know that we do mobile parties for groups of 5 or more?  Call us at 317-254-8267 for more details!)  We all did a level 2 or 3, and it goes to show you that different levels look different on each person.  I did a 3, and I’m the one on the very far left.

Did you and your bridal party get sprayed for your big day?  We’d love to see pictures!

  5. Got the Winter Blahs?

January 25, 2012 by Emily Ross

You don't have to look as white as snow all winter

I think that winter white is a beautiful color to wear…for your clothing, NOT your skin color!  Now that it’s winter, you don’t have to get a spray tan that makes you look like you just stepped off the beach.  We have 5 different color levels that work with your natural skin tone, so if all you want is just a light, healthy glow, we can definitely do that.

If you’re suffering from the winter blues and want to maintain a little color this season, we have an awesome special going on this month!  Hurry only 5 days left in January, and we have a deal for our monthly Unlimited Memberships.  It’s usually $75 a month and has a $50 start-up fee to join, but this month the $50 start-up fee is waived, and it’s only ONE DOLLAR for your first month.  A couple additional perks with your membership are that you can pop in anytime for touch-ups on your face, hands, and feet AND you get discounts on our Air-Tan retail products, like the exfoliating scrub and moisturizing extender.

Let us know if you have any questions.  Call the salon at 317-254-8267 to book your appointment!

  6. Fun Super Bowl XLVI Week Events

    by Emily Ross

Here are some fun events that are going on downtown and in Broad Ripple  leading up to the Super Bowl.

    Downtown

Starting on Monday, January 23, you can buy tickets to get a tour of Lucas Oil Stadium.  This is the first time they have opened up the Super Bowl arena for tours for fans.  Tickets are only $17.50 each, and you can get them here.

Two shows that are going on on Friday the 27th that stood out are DJ Pauly D  from 7-8:00pm and Bret Michaels (He’s been to Air-Tan before!) at 9:30-11:00pm in the Super Bowl Village downtown.  There will also be several other shows going on, and they are all FREE!

On Thursday February 2 at 8:00pm, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will be in concert at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse.  Tickets range from $56-$113, and you can get them here.

    Broad Ripple

On February 2-5, Broad Ripple is having the Broad Ripple Village Super Fest.  The main highlights are that there will be a party tent and there will be a concert each night on Guilford Avenue between Brothers and Starbucks.  Tickets are $25 a night.  Also, I’m sure most, if not all of the bars, will be having their own events and drink specials.

Do you know of anything else exciting going on?
