1. 2012 Bathing Suits for Every Budget

April 20, 2012 by Katelyn Fry

I am loving all these new bathing suits I am seeing this year! I love bathing suits. Although I am hardly ever at the pool or beach, it’s still nice to know I have options if I decide to take a trip somewhere. Besides, it’s hard enough being in a bathing suit in the first place, so I try to buy really cute ones – it makes it putting it on and looking in the mirror a little easier. ;)

Here are some cute new bathing suits for 2012 fit for every budget:

    1. Target – I found this super-cute “swimdress” for $34.99! Metallics are in for spring/summer 2012 and this black/gold foil print is definitely in the now!

    2.  Victoria’s Secret – Love this floral bikini. Florals are hot for spring so this will definitely be hot for summer too! I love the bright colors with the girlie floral. Push-up top is $42, bottoms are $32. I love these bottoms! The width of the sides is narrow enough to still be sexy, but wide enough to not cinch your sides!

    3. AllWetBeachwear.com – This suit is $205 and called the “Muy Caliente V-Ring Bandeau” and it is MUY MUY caliente!! I would never attempt this myself, but if I had a body like that, I would definitely rock this sexy ass swimsuit!

  2. 25 Cent Tans?!

April 11, 2012 by Emily Ross

For all of April, we have a great special running on our Air-Tan Monthly Unlimited Membership.  It’s normally $75 a month and has a $50 membership fee just to join.  But if  you join any time during this month, your first month of tanning is only ONE DOLLAR!  Also, the $50 membership fee is waived, so you only pay $1 to join.  We recommend you come in once a week, so during your first month, each tan is only 25 cents!

As part of your membership, you can come in for touch-ups on your face, hands, or feet at any time without an appointment.  You also get discounts on our retail products–the Air-Tan Exfoliating Scrub, Moisturizing Extender, Face Spray, and Bronzing Brush.

The membership is definitely the package for you if you want to stay tan all spring and summer long without having to damage your skin out in the harmful rays of the sun!!  Please call us at the salon if you have any questions!

  3. 2012 Spring Fashion Trends

March 22, 2012 by Katelyn Fry

IT is officially SPRING! There’s absolutely no season I look more forward to than spring. I love how the trees, flowers, and grass all pop with color and come back to life. For this reason, I also love popping a little color into my wardrobe in spring. Here are my favorite spring trends for this year:

    1. Pastels…They are EVERYWHERE! Pastel colored jeans, purses, dresses, shoes, skirts are going to be all the rage this spring. Pastel is an easy way to incorporate some color into your wardrobe without being over the top. I am not even a fan of pink, but I am diggin’ these pastel pink pants (H & M $34.95)!

    2. Gold smokey eye (especially with an Air-Tan!)…The smokey eye has been dominating eyelids since the Jersey Shore craze hit. This spring is all about lightening it up a little by trying a smokey eye in something other than black/gray. Try a gold, silver, or mauve smokey eye for something stunning, but appropriate for daytime.

    3. Box-shaped bags…This classic yet modern shape is structured, but still relaxed enough for everyday wear. Wear over your shoulder or as a cross-body, like this classic leather stewardess bag from Coach ($358).

  4. Don’t Let This Happen to You!

March 20, 2012 by Emily Ross

Christina Aguilera is a multiple, multiple, MULTIPLE offender for rocking a crappy, orange spray tan, but I think this one takes the cake.  Check out the streaks running down the inside of her legs.  Let this be a lesson to ALWAYS at least take a quick shower to rinse off your bronzer before any important event, especially one where you may perspire!  Also, her right palm is super orange, too!  This is probably from a machine spray tan.

  5. Saying Goodbye to Peyton Manning…and His Wife, Ashley

March 12, 2012 by Katelyn Fry

By the time this blog posts, the news of Peyton’s departure is not new news, but something tells me, we Hoosiers may still be licking our wounds – I know I will. I told my manager, Emily, today that I can’t seem to get out of this funk I have been in all week. She asked me what was wrong, but she should have known my answer – Peyton. Everything reminds me of him. Today, when looking through earrings to wear to work – I stumbled upon my Colts horse-shoe pair – definitely didn’t want to wear those today. Too soon. :( I was listening to the radio on the way to work yesterday and I heard Adele’s “Someone Like You.” I cried. Was I thinking of some long lost love? No, I was thinking about Peyton and the Colts parting ways. I can only imagine how long this heartache will go on for – especially when I see Peyton in some other team’s colors next Fall.

I have always been a sports fan. I grew up completely obsessed with Reggie Miller and the Pacers. My high school, Ben Davis, was known for it’s football team – we won the state championship 3 times out of my 4 years there – 2 of those years, our team and our QB were both ranked nationally. Although I went to every single game every single year, the game never really stuck with me. I didn’t fall in love with football until 2003 when my college roommate, Jennifer, forced me to watch it every Sunday. I instantly loved Peyton Manning. He seemed like such a nice guy and the best athlete I’d ever seen. He brought life to our city. While the Pacers were getting in bar brawls and gunfights, he and the Colts were bringing a lot of positive energy to our city.

I know it is because of Peyton’s success with the Colts that we got Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s because of Lucas Oil Stadium we got a Super Bowl and a re-vamped downtown. It’s because of the Super Bowl, our city will continue growing and becoming an even more wonderful place to live and raise a family. When I was a kid, downtown wasn’t really a place people wanted to go – now it’s a place people flock to and are proud to call their city.

A huge reason I am sad to see him go, is because he will be taking his wife, Ashley with him. Ashley is one of my favorite clients at Air-Tan. I still remember the first time she called on the phone and told me her name. I thought to myself, “THE Ashley Manning?!” I was so incredibly nervous to meet her and to spray her (yes, we get nervous, too!), I felt like I could hardly even formulate sentences. She was so sweet and down to earth, though, my fears all melted away instantly. Although, I’ve never met Peyton, I feel so special to have had Ashley as a client for the past 2 years.  It was a wonderful experience getting to know her and it was truly a pleasure to have her.

Here is Ashley at the NFL Wives Fashion Show on February 3, 2012 – with her Air-Tan, of course!

All of us at Air-Tan will miss her very much. We wish Peyton, Ashley, Mosley and Marshall all the very best on their newest journey in life!

  6. The Naked Truth

March 2, 2012 by Emily Ross

    1.  Is it common to wear the disposable underwear?  What about going topless?

Yes to both!  I know that it can feel awkward to stand basically naked in front of a complete stranger, but I feel like all of us girls at Air-Tan do a great job of making every client feel comfortable.  This is my full-time job, and I’ve been here for almost two and a half years, so I have literally seen thousands of ladies in the buff.  It’s just another day at the office for me. :)

Most women do wear the disposable bottom, but if you would like to wear something of your own, make sure it is black , so that the spray won’t show up or stain it.  As for a top, it is best if it is strapless and black as well.  With tops and bottoms, be mindful of the tan lines that you will have afterward.  This is important if you are going on a trip where you will be wearing a bikini or going to a special event where you would wear a backless dress, for example.

    2.  Can I wash my face before I go to bed tonight?

That depends on what time you got sprayed.  If it’s after the 8-hour time period that you have to wait before getting wet, then you can wash your face, but use a gentle cleanser and no wash cloths or exfoliating!  Otherwise, you will need to wait until your 8 hours are up, or you could lose some of the color.

    3.  When should I start moisturizing my skin?

You also need to wait to do this.  Moisturizing is super important to help maintain your tan, but you need to wait to do this until after you take your first shower.  I recommend moisturizing at least once a day, and I try to do it twice a day (at morning and night).
